Human Glucagon-Like Peptide-1

Name:

Human Glucagon-Like Peptide-1

Molecular Weight:

3355.72

Molecular Formula:

C151H228N40O47

CAS NO:

106612-94-6

Sequence:

NH2-HAEGTFTSDVSSYLEGQAAKEFIAWLVKGRG-COOH

Functions and Effects:

GLP-1 is an incretin hormone mainly secreted by intestinal L cells. It specifically binds to GLP-1 receptors (GLP-1R) on the surface of pancreatic islet β cells, activating adenylate cyclase, which increases intracellular cAMP levels, thereby activating protein kinase A (PKA) and promoting insulin secretion. At the same time, GLP-1 can inhibit glucagon secretion, reduce hepatic glucose output, delay gastric emptying, increase satiety, and reduce food intake. Additionally, it may have protective and proliferative effects on pancreatic islet β cells, improving their function.
